Step it Up Campaign - Stop the accelerting Climate
This short letter is asking those in the position of power to spread awareness of the fact that we as a nation are greatly contributing to climate change and global warming, and that we must mitigate our day to day lifestyles towards a sustainable way of life.
Dear Editor of SF Chronicle,
I have recently come across an article regarding a movement that desperately needs as much attention and media coverage as it can possibly receive. On April 14, 2007, which was the National Day of Climate Action, a campaign and movement was launched titled Step It Up. This campaign encourages people to become locally and nationally aware of America's direct contribution of greenhouse gases into our atmosphere, which overall greatly contributes to the effects of global climate change and global warming. As you probably already know, the typical capitalist, consumer based American lifestyle, comparatively to the rest of the world, has severe detrimental effects to our global environment and well being. Al Gore was one of the first politicians "radical" enough to globally express his opinion on this much disputed and controversial issue, however this was just one small step towards achieving awareness on a larger scale. I ask you personally, as a person in a position to truly make a difference, to seize every opportunity to inform your readers about any protests, advancements in technology, debates or anything relevant that provides a vehicle for awareness and information regarding the serious potential threat that an accelerated climate change can and will have on our world as we know it. I simply can't stress enough the importance of mitigating our daily lifestyles as collective towards a cleaner, more sustainable way of life. Thank you for your time.
