Sensationalizing 420

420 in Porter Meadow
I wanted to write to address your front page article on 420. I think that it is a little absurd that you printed this article as front page news. Yes the popularity of 420 has grown in recent years, but I don’t think that it should be sensationalized like it is by the media, nor commercialized like it is becoming by people trying to sell food or drinks in the meadow that day. 420 is a once a year celebration, it is not violent-in fact it is quiet peaceful. I don’t see an immediate need to stop it since it only happens once a year and it does not affect people who don’t intentionally chose to make the trek to the meadow. I also don’t understand why police and the chancellor say that they are concerned for the safety of the students; everyone was in control and….docile.
