education for a better nation

by Billy
media outlets should be providing students with information pertinent to non-resident students and their struggle to establish a better education for a better nation.
Many children make a precarious journey across the infamous U.S.-Mexican border wrapped around their mother’s warm arms. A couple of award certificates for citizen of the month, a high school diploma and several years later, those same kids realize that they are disenfranchised students. The U.S. government denies any kind of federal of state financial aid thus making virtually impossible for those students to pursue a higher learning education beyond high school, especially for those non-resident students that live in low-income innercity communities. But who knows about this dilemma besides actual students directly affected by unfair immigration legislation that impedes them from attaining a better education for a better nation.

Media outlets should be held accountable for providing this kind of valuable information. What is happening to these students is unfair and undemocratic. Information is supposed to be the most essential tool for a democratic nation yet the media lags from providing us with that type of information. People, especially students, should be enlightened about the AB 540 Law (which allows out-of-state and non-resident students to pay in state tuition as oppose to out-of-state tuition) and about the DREAM Act of 2007 (which would provide a path to legalization for students that choose to go to a 2 year, 4 year institution or serve a perilous military service). Please use the media to inform the masses and provide legalization for deserving students. Remember what we want is a better education for a better nation. Support the DREAM Act of 2007, Thank you.
