Loves Got Everything to Do With It

by Tim Cheung
My letter addresses how we treat each other and how the world would be as a result of that.
Taking a look at our culture in the U.S it is quite sad that we do not feel comfortable when we sit next to strangers on the bus. To have the term, “stranger,” is honestly a bit saddening. Didn’t Jesus say, “Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself,” (The Holy Bible King James Version). Imagine a world in which every single one of us lived that way. Wouldn’t a majority of our problems solved if we all believed this? Imagine how the tragedy at Virginia Tech may have been avoided if Cho Seung-Hui would have experienced love by his peers. Imagine all the war and poverty in the world that may have been avoided if we truly treated each other as our brother/sister. All this may seem like a huge dream but I urge all of us to take one step towards loving each other as each day progresses. I am not asking for all of us to give out hugs to each other but to start small and really see the people around us as true human beings and our brothers and sisters of this world even if it is a difficult concept to grasp in our culture.
