CELEBRATE RADIO LAUNCHES UNIQUE
STATION WORLDWIDE FROM ALAMEDA, CA

Alameda, CA ……..CELEBRATE RADIO, a new and very different entertaining, informative and spiritually uplifting interfaith international Positively Music and social justice radio station, listener-supported, has been launched in Alameda California on satellite across Europe, Russia and the Middle East, shortwave across Central and South America, India and Asia and on the web here and everywhere, as well as on podcasts and soon with syndication to California FM outlets and beyond.

Celebrate Radio’s founder, veteran broadcaster Don Fass, the director of parent nonprofit Streetcats Foundation for Youth, is also creating more local concerts and music fests and a series of 6 Celebrate Radio benefit music compilation CDs to help youth organizations and those fighting AIDS.

Everything about Celebrate Radio, which calls itself ‘Radio For The Rest of Us,’ is unique, mixing entertainment with information, mainstream pop, folk, rock, reggae, techno and hip-hop music from 14 countries with contemporary Jewish, Christian and Catholic music.

The mix, the centerpiece of Celebrate Radio, is called Positively Music and was created over a 1-year span, by Celebrate Radio’s founder, Alamedan Don Fass, who was one of the first DJs to play pop and rock music on FM, in New York City in the ’60 s and once covered the Springsteen Born in the USA Tour and Live-Aid for San Francisco’s KRQR The Rocker and other major stations around the U.S.. Positively Music is a blend of over 1200 songs so far (and by late Winter, over 2000 songs) from the U.S., Sweden, France, Argentina, Singapore, Holland, Australia, Slovakia, Taiwan, Norway, Russia, the Phillipines, Northern Ireland and other countries. 60% is exciting new pop music of various genres from emerging artists you won’t hear many other places, while the balance is uplifting contemporary spiritual music from Christian, Jewish and Catholic traditions.

Celebrate Radio is a joint production of the non-profit Streetcats Foundation here with Nexus and European Gospel Radio in Milan, Italy and Kingdom Come Trust, Belfast.

Celebrate Radio also carries newscasts and news headlines 14 times a day from UNI News Washington, Amy Goodman’s Democracy Now 1-hour newscast and UNICEF’s News of the Child and will also be adding news from Taking It Global and One World Radio in a few months. Youth features and a kids block Saturday mornings are produced by the Bay Area’s Youth Outlook, Radio JoJo in Berlin, Kidcasts and other youth media projects across the country and overseas. 10 short daily ‘uplifting’ spiritual features are also being aired from Billy Graham’s daughter Anne Graham Lotz, Max Lucado, Compassion International CEO Wess Stafford, Rabbi Rami Shapiro, Dr. Jim Garlow, South Africa’s Bryan Howard, HCJB Radio CEO Ron Cline and psychologist Dr. Jim Burns.

And Celebrate Radio just launched its own Celebrate! (U.S.) and Europe Net social networking sites.

“The miracle of Celebrate Radio is its tiny under-$20,000 a year budget,’ says founder Fass. ‘There’s no limit to the uplifting and bringing together of people of all faiths and the amount of volunteers we can draw to help organizations making a difference in peoples’ lives throughout the world if we get underwriting and community donation support from Alameda to the world!”

In May, ‘Doing Good,’ Celebrate’s own series of profiles of organizations around the world that people can participate in to make a difference, will premiere several times a day., as will ‘The Whole Megilla,’ a weekly look at unusual feature stories, ‘Ordinary Heroes’ and a weekly news feature, ‘The World of Religion.’ Don Fass himself created an ecumenical youth feature, ‘What’s Up With God?” running on Celebrate Radio, being syndicated to FM stations and also available as a podcast.

Celebrate Radio carries two series of public service announcements it created for its One Hearts for Kids initiative for at-risk youth and Through the Eyes of a Child, both of which it is also syndicating to other stations around the world as well as the One campaign U2’s Bono is involved in.

Celebrate Radio is also broadcasting Don’s 2.5 year old weekly international music and interview show for youth, Reaching Up (heard on shortwave in 120 countries), as well as Radio Envoy, a look at media and culture from a faith perspective. The Little Orphan Archie Show is a flashback to music and radio from the 30'’ to the 80'’s, and the 1-hour weekly Catholic Music Express, Shabbat Shalom Jewish contemporary music show, Raymond McCullough’s Celtic Roots Radio from Belfast and Jim O’Meara’s Classical Cafe. Also starting are Albums of the Month and Songs of the Week shows (now also ailable as podcasts as is Reaching Up ) The podcasts are linked to on http://www.celebrateradio.com as well as on their own sites.

Celebrate Radio has also just launched separate Salt & Light Radio Praise and Worship, L’Chaim Jewish contemporary, Positively Music, Celtic Roots Radio and Z-2000 World Pop music streams with a Kid City podcast for children coming in May.

Celebrate Radio also is collaborating with Sonic Bids, Soundclick, Indie Heaven, Indie 911 as well as CD Baby on radio and many of its 40 web sites in conjunction with Streetcats Foundation and One Heart for Kids.

Celebrate Radio produced most of the pre-opening live concerts the first year and a half at Crosstown Coffee House as well as at Regeneration and the Unitarian churches in Oakland and will continue the concerts at larger local California venues and in Vermont in 2007.

Set also are a half dozen more benefit music CDs to follow on the ‘New Music New Hope’ CD it produced last year for Tsunami and Katrina relief with King Crimson’s Adrian Belew, Peter Paul & Mary’s Peter Asher, Jewish artists Craig Taubman and Debbie Friedman, Christian pop artists Pam Thum, The Strangers, Bryan Duncan and others and folk icon Tom Paxton. Positively Music Vol.1, the second in the series, was released this March.

Throughout Europe, Russia and the Middle East, Celebrate Radio is broadcast on the Hotbird 6 satellite reaching 180 million households and on shortwave radio to those countries, as well as Asia and Central and South America. Locally, Celebrate Radio can be heard at celebrateradio.com and celebrateradio.net 24/7 and has podcasts available for free downloading and subscription at http://celebrateradio.podOmatic.com and http://reachingup.podOmatic.com

Syndication to AM/FM stations in the U.S. and throughout the rest of the world this Summer, including new broadcasts to India, China and Southeast Asia and from Moscow and Israel’s Galilee is being planned in partnership with Raymond McCullough’s Precious Oil Productions in Ireland, Nexus Radio in Milan Italy and World Radio Network.
