by Milana
The Beehive Collectiveʻs DISMANTLING MONOCULTURE on April 15th 7pm at the Santa Cruz Bike Church

It’s a picture-lecture to be understood by anyone…
not just the experts and political analysts!
With three giant illustrated portable murals, a six foot tall fabric storybook “slideshow”, and an engaging narrative (available in Spanish or English), the Bees take audiences on an interactive VISUAL tour of the connections between COLONIZATION, MILITARIZATION, and RESOURCE EXTRACTION in the Americas. We will be exposing the agendas of the Free Trade Area of the Americas, Plan Colombia, and celebrating resistance to the “Plan Puebla Panama” in Mesoamerica. Join in as we deconstruct the complex and overwhelming issues that are shaping our world, using bioregionally accurate depictions of animals and insects as metaphors to link cultural and ecological diversity.

it's short notice, but ---
in addition to the bike church picture-lecture, which will be great (thanks whoever set it up),

i think it would more in keeping with the beehive's vision to host them at a santa cruz venue that is not a specifically radical subcultural ghetto. the spectrum of people who will come to such an event at the bike church is fairly predictable. versus, a high school assembly, for instance.

so, this is just a suggestion to anyone out there who might want to set up another beehive date (even on the same day) - - if this hasn't already been done, i'm sure the bees would be very receptive to it.
