San Francisco | Anti-WarHundreds Will Die In San Francisco March 19 - You Could Be One
What: Mass Die-In in Downtown San Francisco ![]() dieinimage2.jpg Since March 19, 2003, 650,000 Iraqi civilians have been killed* because of this unjust
war. This is 2.5% of the total Iraqi population. If 2.5% of the U.S. population were killed, that would be 7,000,000 people, or the entire population of the Bay Area. On Monday, March 19, the fourth anniversary of the invasion, outraged students, teachers, clerical workers, religious people, elderly people, and members of many Bay Area communities will line Market Street with their bodies, in a dramatic representation of what the Iraqi death toll would look like in San Francisco. “March 19th 2007 requires us to stop and consider the Iraqi victims in this senseless war. As Americans debate military budgets and war politics, Iraqis are being killed and injured. It's past time for those of us paying for this war to fully consider its consequences and to take action against it.,” said Rachel Kesel, who has promoted the die-in at the last two Critical Mass rides. The nonviolent action is being planned by a loose network of local groups including Bay Area United for Peace and Justice, Act Against Torture, Heads Up Collective, Declaration of Peace, GABRIELA Network Bay Area, San Francisco Women In Black, Food Not Bombs, Queers Undermining Israeli Terrorism (QUIT!), Code Pink, and many individuals involved in the protests which shut down the city four years ago. Most of the activists plan to engage in legal street theater, but some are prepared to be arrested. People who cannot attend the die-in are being asked to wear all black or black armbands and hold vigils or die-in wherever they are on Monday. # # # # # * Source: G.
