A Peace Vigil was held this year during the week marking the 4th anniversary of the military assault and occupation of Iraq by our federal government and it’s military. Hundreds of people lined the streets of highway 101 through Eureka. Over 1500 tombstone placards with the names of U.S. military persons who have lost their lives in Iraq were given out and displayed by people along 101. Banners honoring the Iraqi dead were displayed. The event was organized by Humboldt County Communities for Peace.
