VERY IMPORTANT ACTION TOMORROW!! - IRAQ and IRAN -
5-6PM - SC CITY HALL

PLEASE DISTRIBUTE WIDELY and PLEASE BE THERE
*(or send a message)!!

on Tuesday, February 27th, between 5 and 6 PM,
the Santa Cruz City Council will take action on a proposed resolution that:

1) Calls for a Swift Withdrawal from the Iraq War, a Return of the Resources and Control of that Country to the Iraqi people, and opposes any escalation of that war!

3) Opposes the use of ANY military force against the country of IRAN, whether overt or covert, or against any other country in that Mid-East Region

4) Thanks Congressman Sam Farr for his leadership in the House of Representatives on these issues, and his authorship or cosponsorship of the following bills and resolutions, which address both the occupation and war in Iraq, and the imminent threat of attack on Iran - HR 413, HR 508, HR 4232, HCR 63, HR 770, and HCR 33!! (to see resolution texts, go to http://www.thomas.gov)

5) Urges Senators Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer to demonstrate similar leadership and sponsor similar actions and resolutions in the US Senate

6) Thanks Senator Joe Simitian for supporting, and urges Assemblyman John Laird to fully support, SJR 1 in the California Legislature - this resolution opposes the escalation of the Iraq War, and delineates the local effects and costs of that war to California communities - it is the FIRST TIME the California Legislature has taken action and it has already passed in the CA Senate

6) Disseminates this information and blueprint for action to as many other communities as possible throughout California and the United States

just two weeks ago, on February 13th, over 25 Peace Activists went to the City Council and asked for their leadership on these issues - tomorrow, February 27th, they will do just that - that is Democracy in Action!! - we thank Mayor Emily Reilly, and Council Members Mike Rotkin and Ed Porter for bringing this forward!!!

PLEASE BE THERE!! - ASK YOUR FRIENDS TO COME!! - BRING A CREATIVE SIGN!!!
