Noontime Rallies Outside of ICE Offices Say, "No More Raids!"
February 26th through March 2nd was a week of protest against the recent ICE raids, against guestworker programs, in
support of legalization. Every day, people gathered from 11am to 1pm outside of San Francisco's Homeland Security/ICE Building at 630 Sansome St.
Flyers Immigrant rights organizations and coalitions responded
to, and resisted, the recent immigration raids. They expressed their opposition to the proposed guestworker program, and said, "yes to legalization for all!"
On Friday, legal workers, immigrant rights organizations, and labor organizations came together for a final protest. After marching from 16th and Mission, marchers filled the plaza at the front of the Federal building. The MC's of the rally informed the crowd that 18 people were at that moment being arrested at Nancy Pelosi's office. Community leaders, people of faith, and labor leaders met with Nancy Pelosi's office, and when they saw that her office's response to community concerns and demands was insufficient, they sat in and were arrested.
