Climate in Change in San Francisco an Introduction
Climate Change is here to stay in San Francisco. It was very interesting how not one Environmentalist in the pure sense of the world was permitted to address Climate Change in San Francisco held recently in San Francisco. Those in the know understand micro-climates . San Francisco can ill afford drastic Climate Change but we are headed in that direction anyway - because of our own making and pollutants that we release.
The recent cold spell that hit us in California and here in San Francisco and the extended Bay Area revealed to us the dawn of drastic Climate Change and many adverse impacts.
In years to come we will experience weeks and then months of cold spells and perhaps weeks of very hot weather leading to death and for sure disrupting ordinary ways of conducting business as we know it today.
A few days of very cold weather and we here in Northern California lost billions in produce just a few weeks ago. Oranges and other such fruits took a heavy hit.
Pollutants cause green gases that get trapped affecting a balance and warming our Earth. We have been seeing drastic changes all over the world. The most visible in the Artic and Antartic regions.
Here is San Francisco over the last 5 years we have already seen an eroding of our coastal land. In another few years our infrastructure most of which lies in the coastal ares are prone to damage and self-destruction.
Our sewer-systems can ill afford salt water to invade the operation system.
If it happens the Phelps Raw Sewage Treatment Plant - which is placed in the middle of Bayview and a residential area in San Francisco will stop - dead. if there is flooding - you can imagine the adverse impacts - Health and Safety issues.
Where is our Office of Emergency Service (OES) on this one? Where is Mayor Gavin Newsom on this one? Where is SF City Planning on this one? The SF Department of Building Inspection?
This plant takes in eighty percent of the City and County of San Francisco's raw sewage. But a hundred percent from Brisbane, Burlingame, Colma and Daly City.
The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) fails to reveal to the Public why nothing much is done to stop the expansion of thousands of homes both inside San Francisco and outside.
All the excreta flows freely by gravity to San Francisco. Daily the foul smell and particulates released by the Phelps Raw Sewage Treatment Plant contributes to Climate Change.
The SFPUC is the worst polluter of particulates and other dangerous toxic elements all over San Francisco. Leading this mess Susan Leal the Director, of SFPUC who is not an engineer but as she desires others call her - a "Berber" woman:
