Raging Grannies Against Environmental Racism: Save Medicine Lake!

by Granny Ruth R (info [at] raginggrannies.com)
Raging Grannies got the call from Morning Star and Dixie B and headed out to Calpine Headquarters at Noon for Rally to Protect Sacred Space. There we met many friends, old and new.

Raging Grannies are working against Environmental Racism in East Palo Alto (fighting giant polluter Romic Corporation) so heeding the call to join with activists to save Medicine Lake was a natural for us. We grabbed our Las Abuelitas Enojadas (Raging Grannies) sign plus a new one we made just for this occasion and headed to 50 W. San Fernando, home of the evil Calpine Corporation, in downtown San Jose.

Nathan was kept busy conducting the line of marchers...we counted over 100. He took time out from his important role to welcome the Grannies. Thanks, Nathan!

Laulani is from Hawai'i and works for indigenous peoples rights. Granniy Ruth grew up in Hawai'i and we "talked story". Here, Granny Gail complements one of the youngest participants on her brave red flag waving!

Tony is an award winning poet from Susanville. Tony and other new friends invited the Grannies to come to Medicine Lake in June. We'll be there!
