Many Bay Area Folks attended the Encounter Between the Zapatista Peoples and the Peoples of the World held in Oventik, Chiapas, Mexico on December 30 & 31, 2006
and January 1& 2, 2007. This meeting was called for members of the International Campaign to meet with the autonomous councils, Good Government Juntas, the comanders and members of the Other Campaign to learn about autonomy. The Encounter took place as the Other Campaign concludes its first year tour of Mexico and prepares to send its commanders throughout Mexico for the second phase of the Other Campaign. Many Chiapas Support Committee members attended the Encuentro and shot awesome video footage to bring back for editing. Some of us stayed on and visited our sister Zapatista municipality, San Manuel. Don’t miss this video report, musical treat and opportunity to get more info on how you can participate in the Zapatista Campaigns.
