A US news service has reported that an American citizen currently in the custody of Egyptian authorities was arrested on suspicion of alleged involvement in recruiting Muslims to fight the US-led coalition in Iraq.
In more detailed information from Russian news (14-12-06) - Kremlin reports are cited which contain accusations that the US was operating a CIA/French intelligence led terror group inside Egypt, for the purpose of recruiting "foreign fighters" to travel to Iraq and Afghanistan.
The group had been infiltrated by the Egyptian authorities. Nine French citizens and two Belgians were also arrested together with the American in late November.
The Russian news service describes it as a tragedy that the American and French Governments would recruit combatants to fight against their own soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan.
