Ed Rippy's Educational Series: "Terrorism Explained: How Our Government Uses Thugs, Drug Dealers, and Religious Fanatics to Control Us and 'Justify' Endless War."
Thursday, December 28, 2006
at The Grand Lake Neighborhood Center
530 Lake Park Avenue, (between Lakeshore Avenue and Grand Avenue) in Oakland
7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Free, but donations gratefully accepted.

A historical overview of Western capitalism's response to the Malthusian dilemma: The military importance of oil; why the system can't afford peace; how the system manufactures enemies to keep the war machine going; and how our government has built up modern terrorism to create the enemy that it needs to maintain a permanent war economy and allegiance to the existing power structure.

Awesome opportunity for activist networking -NYEve, SF

Hello! I know this is, in the microcosm, off the direct topic of greening Burning Man. *But, I'm sending it hoping that you understand it's relevance in the bigger picture. This event sounds not only fun, but an opportunity to meet and party with powerful allies. I spoke to one of the coordinators, who expressed a wish to include the Burning Man community as much as possible. I hope that some of us in the greening BM movement can attend and meet key people who we could learn from, teach to, and strategize green plans for BM and the world at large.
It also seems like a super-cool space, like a mini-Playa playground of tech and interactive art!!!

Danger Ranger's 16th Annual Post Yule Pyre

Saturday, January 6, 2007 7:00 PM
Carousel Diner 2750 Sloat Blvd @ Great Highway/ Ocean Beach SF, CA

An annual San Francisco tradition occurs at this time of the year, when the last stand of sidewalk fir trees is logged by the Friends of the Rootless Forest and then piled up on the beach for some very rapid composting. Saturday, January 6th. Meet at the Carousel Diner, 2750 Sloat Blvd at 7:00 PM. (Look for the giant Doghead in the middle of the street.) We'll hang out for half an hour and then head west when the coast is clear. Bring a christmas tree and libations. No glass containers on the beach, you assume the risk, no one is in charge, your mileage may very. And remember; "When fire is outlawed, only outlaws will have fire."

The Dollar
http://www.breitbart.com/news/2006/12/18/061218095123.sn4s0vlu.html
The Iranian government said it has ordered the central bank to transform the state's dollar-denominated assets held abroad into euros and use the European currency for foreign transactions.
"The government has ordered the central bank to replace the dollar with the euro to limit the problems of the executive organs in commercial transactions," government spokesman Gholam Hossein Elham told reporters Monday.
"We will also employ this change for Iranian assets (in dollars) held abroad."
The move comes amid mounting pressure from the United States for the UN Security Council to agree sanctions against Iran over its controversial nuclear programme.
Elham added that Iran's budget would in future be calculated according to euros.
"Until now the budget has been calculated according to revenues in dollars but this calculation will now change."

Pelosi Targets Grassroots Freedom of Speech
“This bill would apply to those who have no Washington-based
lobbyists, who provide no money or gifts to members of Congress, and
who merely seek to speak, associate and petition the government,” it
said. “Regulating the speech, publishing, association and petitioning
rights of citizens is not targeted at corruption in Washington, as
Public Citizen and its supporters would believe. Instead, it is
targeted directly at the 1st-Amendment rights of citizens and their
voluntary associations.”
