San Francisco | Labor & WorkersMore Photos from the ALcatraz / Hornblower Picket and Solidarity March
The following Photographs were taken by a fellow IBu deckhand. They clearly show that the solidarity on the waterfront is a lot greater than Hornblower uber capitalist Terry Macrae anticipated. ![]() alcatrazboycottmarch2redu...

The photos look great ! Multiple unions represented , good racial, ethnic diversity, etc. It was a good political protest. But a lot of people there expected it to go beyond that . I listened to several Local 10-ILWU and IBU-ILWU members who thought that the purpose of this action was to create a very strong picket line and SHUT DOWN the Alcatraz ferry . Why didn't that occur ? Mayor Newsome would be upset ? Two dozen cops and maybe another dozen rent a cops were too much a barrier for six hundred plus Union men and women ? Any answers ?
What are we waiting for?

I was one of the folks who came wanting to shut down the hornblower pier. Instead I was hushed half a dozen times by big macho peace keeper guys telling us to listen to the politicians/leaders... or else! It would have taken only about half of us to shut that thing down for the afternoon. What were the politicians/leaders waiting for?
politicians/leaders

The politicians/"leaders" will never let the workers realize their real power. It is their job to do so. Why do you think all of the union bosses at the protest where wearing clothes most of the workers cant afford? With the main stream service unions they are supposed to channel the war between employers and bosses into the most minimla thing possible. Instead of workers taking direct action they are supposed to pay obscene union dues to bosses like we saw on the stage the other day and trust them to take care of things. Using lawyers, politicians and courts to put pressure on employers will only take away power from the workers not. DIRECT ACTION and SOLIDARITY is the key!
