FREE JOSH WOLF EVENT Thursday, December 7th 2006, 7:30

Balazo Gallery, 2183 Mission Street @18th, 415-255-7227 ALL AGES

On December 7th join journalists, activists, and local leaders in calling upon the United States Government to free Josh Wolf from coercive custody. Josh is a San Francisco free-lance journalist being held for his refusal, based on journalistic principles, to turn over to a federal grand jury his news footage from a July 2005 protest. Free press advocates from around the world have called his incarceration unjust and a grave violation of the freedom of the press.

Speakers at this event will include Assemblyman Mark Leno, SF Bay Guardian Publisher Bruce Bruggman and many more. Kevin Epps (Straight Outta Hunters Point) will screen his new short film about Josh and music will be provided by a special guest DJ.

Josh Wolf is well on his way to becoming the longest incarcerated journalist in US history. His case has prompted the Reporters Without Borders to lower the United States' ranking for press freedom nine points to 53rd in the world.

For his commitment to journalistic freedom Josh Wolf has just received the 2006 Journalist of the Year Award from the Society of Professional Journalists. On this occasion he was praised by Assemblyman Mark Leno who commended his "courageous dedication to protecting freedom of the press in our country."

Please join the San Francisco community in supporting Josh Wolf and demanding that Congress pass a Federal Shield Law protecting journalists and freedom of the press. For more information about Josh Wolf go to http://www.joshwolf.net or contact Andy Blue at andy.blue(at)yahoo.com

Speakers to Include:
Mark Leno, California State Assemblyman
Bruce Bruggman, Editor/Publisher San Francisco Bay Guardian
David Greene, Executive Director, The First Amendment Project
Chris Daly, SF Supervisor
Ross Mirkarimi, SF Supervisor
Jane Kim, SF School Board Commissioner Elect
Sarah Olson, radio producer and independent journalist

Fri Dec 8

12/8: 7-9pm ALL DIAMONDS ARE BLOOD DIAMONDS! (oakland lake merritt / grand)

All Diamonds Are Blood Diamonds! This is a demonstration infront of the Grand Lake Theater showing "Blood Diamond". What the popular media likes to show about some diamonds being bloody put forth by major diamond corporations isn't accurate. It's not a thing of the past where people are being murdered daily over the land where diamonds rest. Every diamond minning area is a war zone where the locals are brutalized, murdered and displaced. They are being murdered daily so the diamonds can continue to be extracted and extracted more easily. ALL DIAMONDS ARE BLOOD DIAMONDS!

Location: In Front of the Grand Lake Theater, 3200 Grand Avenue, Oakland, CA

At a good party, you?ll see dozens of different techniques in action. Which ones are easier? What are they called? How do you learn them? Which players are safe and competent, versus merely flamboyant, or even dangerous?

We cover all the techniques you?re likely to see in a dungeon or be asked to try. For each we include what it looks like, what it feels like for the top and bottom, what it?s really about, safety, equipment, difficulty, and how to learn it.

Coverage includes techniques in ten groups: Bondage, Dominance/submission, Electrical, Fetish, Impact, Medical, Psychological, Role-play, Sensation, and Sex play. Because of limited time, we cannot fully teach every technique, but this program prepares you to select and attend specialized classes in the individual techniques that interest you.
- -
Angela and Iain are officers in the Society of Janus, Dungeon Monitors for SF Citadel and elsewhere, and teach BDSM classes at all levels, at many venues. Their teaching style combines humor and approachability with clarity and thorough research.

Reservations not required. Membership not required. You don't need to bring or wear anything special. If time is tight, you can bring dinner to eat during the class. The class is open to anyone 18 years and older with a sincere, positive, personal interest in BDSM / leather / kink. All roles, genders, and orientations welcome. If you have questions you may write to edukink AT yahoo DOT com

Dirty Secrets-Gritty afterhours loft party
Saturday, December 9, 2006 11:45 PM

Not ready to stop when the bars shut down? Like dirty techy funky beats? Dying for a hip loft party to dance and mingle with kickass dj's, roof access, and a stunning view of the skyline? Then join Rock It Science for an intimate afterhours loft party on Saturday, December 9th. We kick things off at midnight and keep rocking until the dancefloor stops!

DJ's for the evening:

Mike Frugaletti (DHP, Goodfamily)
--Mike tore it up for us at the Disco Science Patrol and we are stoked to have him back one more time before he moves away to Brazil. Frug throws it down proper every time with his chunky funky signature sound blending the hottest new cutting edge tracks with some of the sickest old school classics. We will definitely miss this gentleman. :-(

Anthony (Green Gorilla Lounge, Hector Works, Tweekin Records)
--We are really psyched to be working with this hooligan from Green Gorilla Lounge, without a doubt one of SF's hottest parties. Anthony always gets the booties into full shake mode. A New York state native and rave scene stalwart in the 90's, Anthony throws down a wide range of tracks: rock-influenced electro funk, fidget house, and indy madness to name a few. Don't miss this first set for us from one of the funnest party people we know!

Eric Sharp (Rock It Science, Zen City Records)
--Rock It Science's founder and resident dj extraordinaire, Mr. Sharp gets the dancefloor going crazy every time. Eric is known for taking crowds on a musical journey with eclectic musical tastes brought together by one unifying principle: great music that will make your feet move and your ass shake!

Jimmy B. (Rxfx)
--Jimmy can be found busting his ass promoting some of SF's hottest events, including the recent madness Be The Riott. He has performed alongside many of the Bay Area's best with good reason, including M3, Rick Preston, and Miguel Migs to name a few. Jimmy is definitely one to watch for 2007, and we are stoked to have him lay down his first set for us.

Ryan D. (Rock It Science, 90hz.org)
--Growing up in the midwest, Ryan D. was exposed to some of the sickest sounds in the world: Detroit techno and Chicago house. These influences are clearly apparent in the way he rocks the decks. Ryan's closing set at Blast Off had everybody screaming, and we are excited to have him closing this night of debauchery out for us leaving you begging for more.

Cover will be $10 at the door. This is an underground event, so please be discreet! For the Dirty Secret SOMA loft location, call the Rock It Science Info line 415 412 0406 the day of the party (Saturday, the 9th.)

Thank you so much for your continued love and support! We love throwing these parties, and you dancers and scenesters are what makes it all worthwhile. Spread the word and the love, drag your friends out, and we'll see you on the dancefloor! The Rock It Science Crew

Sunday Dec. 10- Scott Ritter and Jeff Cohen to Speak on U. S. Targeting Iran and Media Disinformation

Scott Ritter & Jeff Cohen on U. S. Targeting Iran and
Media Disinformation

Olney Hall, the College of Marin, Sunday, December 10 at 2-4 pm

Scott Ritter will talk about Bush’s plans for regime change in Iran as part of the White House strategy to overpower the Middle East. Jeff Cohen will describe the media’s disinformation about Iran and Iraq, including the suppression of Ritter’s appearance on the Donahue show.

Scott Ritter recently authored "Target Iran" and visited the country this fall. He was a senior UN weapons inspector in Iraq from 1991-‘98, which he wrote about in Iraq Confidential published last year. Previously he was a Marine intelligence officer for eight years and conducted arms inspections in the former Soviet Union before providing analysis of Iraq’s missile capacity to Gen. Schawrzkopf during the Gulf War of 1991. “The important thing to know about Scott Ritter is that he was right.” - Seymour Hersh

Jeff Cohen, founder of Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting (FAIR), is the author of the recently published "Cable News Confidential: My Misadventures in Corporate Media." He previously worked for MSNBC as on-air commentator and senior producer of Donahue until the show was terminated on the eve of the Iraq war. "Jeff Cohen's dissection of cable TV news is both irresistibly funny and civically painful. It goes from uproarious anecdotes to those that make you wince." - Molly Ivins

After the main presentations, there will be a public forum on how to stop an attack on Iran. The program will begin with live Persian music, and conclude with book signings by both Ritter and Cohen.

The College of Marin is located in Kentfield, two miles west of Highway 101. Olney Hall is on College Ave. just off of Sir Francis Drake Blvd.

Doors open at 1:30. The requested donation will be $10 with COM students admitted free and no one turned away.

The event is sponsored by the Marin Peace & Justice Coalition, Students for Social Responsibility, COM, and U.S. Tour of Duty. It is part of a Bay Area tour of Ritter and Cohen in association with the Don’t Attack Iran Coalition, which includes the American Friends Service Committee, Global Exchange and World Can’t Wait.

http://evolutionaryawareness.com/events/intros/intro.php
What: Introduction to Personal Evolution
When: THURSDAY December 14th 7:00pm to 9:30pm
Where:The Arete Center for Excellence in SF
Is there something stopping you from reaching your full potential?
Something elusive you can’t quite identify? Do you experience
something in the way of you having the kind of life you want and
deserve? Does fear, anger, sadness, shame, guilt or for some, even
grief, weigh you down unnecessarily? Do you often take things
personally? Do you find yourself acting in reaction against, or in
continuation of the patterns your parents demonstrated?

You would like to be free from significantly negative emotional
events from your past? Truly free—to such a degree you are even
grateful for them? Would you like to have a greater understanding of
the power of your mind and the minds of those around you?

Have you attended personal development events and found them useful,
but ultimately unfulfilling? Have you experienced “transformation”,
but found it ultimately unpredictable or unsustainable without a
rigorous community?

Would you be interested in freeing up so much of your essence that
you were able live your life’s purpose—and prosper from it?

If you answered yes to any of that, join me for this free event.

Womens Yule Gathering on Friday, December 15 @ 7pm in SF

Welcome beautiful goddesses!
On Friday night, December 15, you are invited to a beautiful home in
San Francisco to celebrate Yule, the welcoming of the sun's rebirth.
This night, we celebrate Winter Solstice, the longest night of the
year. Tonight, the breath of nature is suspended: all waits while
darkness is transformed into the infant light. We watch for the coming
of dawn, when the Great Mother gives birth to the Child Sun, who is the
bringer of hope and the promise of summer. After tonight, the sun
climbs just a little higher and stays longer in the sky each day. Much
celebration is to be had as the ancestors await the rebirth of the Sun
Child that warms the frozen Earth and made her birth seeds from her
womb.

Please arrive to the gathering at 7pm with a prepared meal for the
potluck(salad and dessert will be taken care of), a towel for the hot
tub, your own plate, cup, and eating utensils, and red, green and white
attire for the holiday season. Also we ask that you bring an article of
clothing wrapped for the gift exchange. And of course, your amazing,
tranformative self. Call Sherry at 510-410-8876 to RSVP and for
directions. We are awake in the night. We turn the wheel to bring in
the light. We call from the sun the womb of night. Blessed Be!

Love and light, Sherry and Molly huggima @ yahoo.com

Gratitude Nights! Dec. 16th! Saturday, December 16, 8:00 PM

…is the possibility of empowered community in action. Once a month, we come together to create a loving celebration of life, and to transform what we refer to as "socializing." These drug and alcohol-free parties exist as amazing opportunities to express ourselves, to share ourselves, and to know ourselves. We generate the party from within, and at the same time we generate generous funds for the causes we, as a community, are a stand for. Holding our authentic connection as sacred, we honor our unity in ceremony and dance. By choosing to celebrate for change, we come to know the path to be the goal…

Universal Peace and Universal Party!
Come be a part of the celebration for change!
This will be a fundraiser for Other Paths, sponsoring three inner-city
youths from Richmond in their journey to Africa, where they will build a
water-filtration system for an impoverished village in Kenya.

The night will include live music, dancing, visual art, face-paiting,
raffle, sacred ceremony, vegan organic food, on-site healing practitioners
... love and community!

This is a drug and alcohol-free event.

Kinky Salon New Years Eve Party with Opel!!!

“Once upon a time, in a land both far and near to our own…there are two Realms . .both beautiful, strange and fabulous…and it is said that once a year, a secret path opens up between these realms…spilling revelers from both realm into the other…in search of Beauty, Pleasure and Delight…..”
