California/Los Angeles

by Lewis Haidt
Thanks to Rick's Prelinger's KEYNOTE PRESENTATION/COLLAGE: REMIX OR ROLLOVER: ARCHIVAL PARADOXES IN CENTURY 21 as part of USC's TransFormations I: Remixing the Archive (believe it or not, events are open to the public!!! It's a strange new USC, actually affliated with USC, which is why they can do it), I came across the Lord of the Rings Free Trade mash-up. Wonderful work.

Hope it's not too late to spread to folks down South.

Here's Sunday's list of free events for anyone interested in attending and my post on Saturday's events.

RECEPTION AND VIDEO SCREENING: BLUR + SHARPEN
6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m., Annenberg Center Complex
A curated screening program and discussion of short films, music videos and motion graphics that spin off from the theme of remix. Featured works include Gregg Biermann's latest computational remixes of Hollywood classics, The Sound of Music and Singin' in the Rain.

LIVE PERFORMANCE: TV SHERIFF AND THE TRAILBUDDIES
7:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m., Annenberg Center Complex
Remixing the Archive closes with the manic mayhem of the TV Sheriff, who will perform his own particular, slightly demented brand of live video remix, TV twiddling and media BBQ!
