Native American Culture Day: "Natives Across the Americas-Indigenous Immigration"

Oakland Public Library will celebrate it's 15th annual Native American Culture Day on Saturday, November 4, 2006 from Noon-5pm. The theme is "Without Borders/Sin fronteras: Natives Across the Americas". Arnoldo García of the National Network for Immigrant & Refugee Rights. will be the keynote speaker. Culture Day will also include a documentary film entitled, "Nosotros Somos Uno - We are One", Native dancing and drumming, flute music, a speaker from the 2006 Shellmound Walk, and a Ballet Folklorico group. Everyone welcome.
(Oakland, CA) - Native American Culture Day, an annual afternoon of Native performances, information and exhibits, will take place Saturday, November 4, from noon to 5pm at the West Auditorium of the Oakland Main Library, located at 125-14th Street at Madison St. As part of this year's theme, Without Borders/Sin Fronteras: Natives Across the Americas, Arnoldo García of the National Network for Immigrant & Refugee Rights will give a speech on the topic of indigenous immigration. A documentary film entitled, "Nostros Somos Uno - We are One", will be shown which addresses migration paths within the Americas. Other highlights include the Medicine Warriors Dance Troupe, All Nations Singers, East Bay Ballet Folklorico Juvenil, Flautist Wally "Ogi" Johnson, and Corrina Gould of the 2006 Shellmound Walk. Free event. All welcome.
