No on 85 Burma Shave!

Date:
Friday, October 20, 2006
Time:
4:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Event Type:
Other
Organizer/Author:
Tina
Location Details:
The corner of River St./ Hwy 9 and Hwy 1 (by the big ugly river street sign)

Prop 85 is parental notification for minors who want to get an abortion. Should it pass, it would pose a direct threat to the minority of teens who would be threatened by talking to their parents about their decision (victims of incest, children of abusive parents, etc)

Come out and show your support for teen choice today by participating in our No on 85 burma shave! (a burma shave is a ton of people holding up signs at a busy intersection) We'll be meeting at the Cost Plus parking lot to get our No On 85 t-shirts and signs (that's right, FREE T-SHIRTS FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS), and then we'll march to the corner of River St./ Hwy 9 and Hwy 1 (by the big ugly river street sign). This is an intersection that sees a lot of out-of-towner traffic, so it's great exposure. Last time we had a great turn out, and got a lot of supportive honks from older women who have fought long and hard for choice and don't want to see it taken away from our teens in the upcoming election.

We'll be there from 4 until 6, and afterwards we'll hit up happy hour to spread the word about the dangers of prop 85.

One more thing: WE NEED MORE MALE ALLIES! I know there are men out there who support women's right to choose--where you at? Come and show your support!
