A modern day David, Stewart A. Alexander, is willing to wage war against a giant construction company that has plans to operate a 155 acre quarry above the communities of Rainbow, Temecula, Murrieta and Fallbrook. Stewart Alexander, Candidate for California Lieutenant Governor, is “Declaring War” on the project and promise to gather support statewide.

Alexander says the people of California need to know the truth, “This is a crusade to protect the public health and safety of tens of thousands of Californians; it’s a crusade to save a vital wilderness reserve area, and to protect our environment.”

Granite Construction, the construction company that will operate Liberty Quarry, has attempted to ease public fears about health issues, safety, noise, traffic and the potential damage to the environment; however Alexander believes their campaign of disinformation is design to mislead the public and Riverside County officials with a false sense of satisfaction whereby the company can obtain permits to begin excavating.

Liberty Quarry will be one of the largest open surface mines in the United States, adjacent to a 4,300 acre nature ecological reserve operated by San Diego State University. The quarry will bring over 1,400 trucks daily to Rainbow and Temecula and will operate 20 hours daily.

The freeways in the area, the I-15 and the I-215 presently needs more than $15 billion for expansion and repairs; and the future impact this quarry will have on the freeways will certainly be costly to all Californians.

Alexander says, “Liberty Quarry will be costly to the State of California in terms of health and safety; and worst, this mine will cause the deaths and respiratory problems for many local residents for decades.”

Alexander has championed this cause for local residents because, “These people need help and Riverside County officials are not listening; maybe the people of California will listen and join this war to stop the quarry.”

Stewart Alexander is a resident of Murrieta and is the candidate for the Peace and Freedom Party. The organization promotes conservation, protecting the environment, restoring and protecting the air, water, land and ecosystems.
