DEMAND CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY!!

Tell Wells Fargo to Stop Lootin’ and Pollutin’

Next week is a Wall Street Investor Conference at the Ritz-Carleton.

There will be over 200 CEO's in attendance, including the CEOs of Wells Fargo, Kimberly Clark, Monsanto, Baker-Hughes and ConocoPhillips, meeting with institutional investors about the buying and selling of our future. Amazon Watch, Greenpeace, Rainforest Action Network and others will be turning up the heat in street under the unified banner of “Demand Corporate Responsibility!”

Rainforest Action Network will be calling on Wells Fargo CEO Richard Kovacevich to stop Lootin’ and Pollutin’. Historic bank Wells Fargo has consistently refused to change course and continues to fund environmentally and socially destructive companies around the globe. In Appalachia, Wells Fargo finances various coal operators engaged in mountaintop removal, a strip mining process known for its destructive effect on eco-systems and local communities. In Alaska, they support efforts to undermine environmental protections and speed up the rate of forest destruction. In the Amazon, they have financed the disenfranchisement of indigenous nations and the clear cutting of pristine rainforest.

Join us as we hold these irresponsible corporate citizens accountable.

A better title to this announcement would be "Protest against corporations" or something like that...
by deanosor (deanosor [at] comcast.net)
I aree with Johnathan that a protest agaisnt corporations is what is called for at this event, but that's not RAN is about. RAN doesn't wnat get rid fo corporate capitalism, or even to reform it in any meaningful way. RAN wants to get them actin like better "corporate citizens" (an oxymoron). For example in their campaign "against" Wells-Fargo, they have told people to bank at those wonderful corporate citizens the Bank of Aparthied (OOPS).. America and the Shittybank (OOPS again)... the Citibank. Citibank happens to be the larest bank corporation in the world annd treats its workers, customers, and the environmentn at least as bad as Wells Fargo.
