* Learn about Vulvas in Art, History, and Mythology * Explore Political and Religious Vulvic Relations * View a rich collection of vulvic items including 3 different designers' vulvic prayer flags, vulvic jewelry, vulvic postcards, zines, pillows, religious/ritual items, and more! The Vulva Museum (http://www.vulvamuseum.org) is going on the road...Enjoy an evening of historic, cross-cultural vulvic imagery, in art, and cultural objects, on display, coupled with our speaker presentation, "The Politics of Vulvic Symbology." Historically, Vulvas have been honored as powerful female symbols of pleasure, and as portals of life. Art reflects this respect throughout history. Yet in recent times (in the U.S., at least), male-created porn and menstrual product ads are often the only vulvic material people experience. This exhibit and speaker series explores contemporary vulvic artists such as Judy Chicago and Georgia O’Keeffe, as well as past civilizations’ vulvic art and ritual objects. This workshop may just change your relationship with women’s genitals forevermore! If you have an organization or event space that would like to sponsor a Travelling Vulva Museum Exhibit/Speaker Event, contact kirstena [at] resist.ca. We will be announcing our Fall/Winter West Coast Tour dates shortly. We plan on visiting Vancouver, BC, Seattle, Wa., Portland, Or., Eugene, Or., San Francisco, Ca., Santa Cruz, Ca., and Los Angeles, Ca. during the Fall/Winter 2006. You may enjoy reading an article by the Vulva Museum, on display at http://users.resist.ca/~kirstena/pagevaginamyths.html, entitled, “Vulvas in Mythology, History and Art.” And visit our online Vulva Museum at http://www.vulvamuseum.org, to start changing the way you see flowers, fruit, stones, nature...and women’s bodies, today! |
