Press Advisory

This grieving mother believes that the guards hog-tied, gagged and then hung her son in disciplinary at CSATF Corcoran. He suffered from bi-polar disorder. This is very relevant to the current topic of prison reform.

Someone needs to care enough to write about this one. The treatment of these families in these darkest hour is just totally unacceptable.

I have her phone number if anyone will write about this. I believe that the people who are still dying should not be ignored but featured right now, don't you? It is the bottom line proof of how much changes are needed!

That pipsqueak Matt Gray doesn't know about these problems because the families rarely come to him for help. He shouldn't be up there representing our views on reform on that panel as he has been more a part of the problem than any assistance for people in this plight. Put yourself in this mother's shoes! Forget the sports section when this type of thing is happening right under our noses.

Rev. B. Cayenne Bird
My son was murdered on 7/14/06 hung by his neck, but not before being hog tied and gagged. CDC # P78823 His NAME is VECHEL E. CLIFTON

He was taken to a building "E" for disciplinary actions, so it was said. This is how they disciplined him.

Hours after his attack he was revived the next day. Needless to say he went too
long without oxygen, and was pronounced brain dead.
Then on the 17th of July Doctor Bond at Fresno UMC's ICU, said he was dying even with the machines. He was completely gone by 7:45 p.m. that night.

I contact the Ombundsmen for Corcoran, Ken Hurdle said he would have a report soon, that was his last response to me.

I have tried to speak with the warden and others, they say they haven't any information.

I was told by a Michael Fisher that I am not going to get my sons medical records,
he said he is an assistant to the warden.

I was also told by this same man that King County's D.A. has taken the case out of there hand. If I am to receive any information it would come from them.
I asked him for a number or address, this man told me to look it up on the internet.

He was cold nasty and rude. He had no information to give me.
So why did he even phone my house, what was the true purpose of the call.

The King County morgue verified the findings of what happened to my son in the last minutes of his life.

Had someone not slipped and blurted out the truth in ICU. I would have still believed the lie presented by the prison...during their critical condition call.

They said he was chocked in his cell, by his cell mate. He wasn't even in his cell,
nor was he chocked by human hands.

Corcoran is hell on earth. I never thought my son would die in what is suppose to be a substance abuse prison.

The corruption is so deep. The guards are always setting up, and arranging for prisoners to be killed or tortured.

There is no doubt in my mind. That my young 25 year old son, was just one more of their many victims.

Sincerely,
Grieving mother

I will give journalists I know and trust the contact info. Don't be callous, the legislators are oblivious to this suffering but the journalists can make them pay attention, you are our front line of defense to stop the slaughter and torment so rampant in the prisons. By now we as journalists should all be past the denial stage and into emergency mode on saving lives
