Sex Workers Outreach Project USA invites New Zealand Member of Parliament Tim Barnett to the Bay Area to talk about sexual freedom and civil unions.
New Zealand Member of Parliament, Tim Barnett, will make a special US appearance, August 17th and 18th, to focus on his political role impacting human rights and sexual freedom. MP Barnett will discuss the need to decriminalize prostitution and safeguard the rights of sex workers. He will also talk about gay rights and civil unions in New Zealand.
MP Barnett is notable for having authored New Zealand’s Civil Union Act 2005, establishing the institution of Civil Union for same-sex and opposite-sex couples. Previously, he authored the Prostitution Reform Act 2003, decriminalizing prostitution and brothel keeping for adults in New Zealand.
Sex Workers Outreach Project USA, The Commonwealth Club of California and the San Francisco LGBT Community Center will co-sponsor MP Barnett in a formal discussion on Thursday, August 17 at the LGBT Center, 1800 Market St. 6:30pm to 9:30pm.
