Santa Cruz Guerilla Drive-In Presents

The Times of Harvey Milk

A powerful documentary on the life, career, and assassination of Harvey Milk, a charismatic activist and the first openly gay person elected to public office in California. After less than a year in office, Milk and the mayor of S.F. were killed by fellow city supervisor, former police officer and fire fighter- Dan White. The film includes the candle light march of 50,000 people after Milk's assassination and later- the street riots and storming of City Hall after the SF courts found Dan White guilty of involuntary manslaughter due to his "Twinky" defense (a similar pattern of in-justice and public reaction to the Rodney King trail). An essential history lesson for any activist and advocate for justice.
