Dear Mumia Abu-Jamal Supporters,

CELEBRATE MUMIA'S 52nd BIRTHDAY with THE MOBILIZATION TO FREE MUMIA
ABU-JAMAL and FRIENDS

SUNDAY, APRIL 23 at 2 PM
At the home of Derrel Myers and Naomi White
296 Randall Street at Harper, (one block south of Noe and 30th Streets),
San Francisco, CA. For information call: 415-255-1080 (Directions below)

Join us for a wine, cheese and hors d'oeuvres reception/fundraiser to
celebrate Mumia's struggle for justice & freedom.

Our meeting comes at a critical time in Mumia's legal defense, when a court
hearing or decision, in the legal pipeline soon, could result in a new
trial and his freedom, or, in the alternative, in a reactionary decision to
reinstate the death penalty. We need your help and active participation.

Admission free - contribute what you can! Join us!

Honored guests/brief speakers:

* Walter Riley, Vanguard Public Foundation
* Noelle Hanrahan, Prison Radio Project
* Derrel Myers, Jo Jo White Solidarity Committee
* Laura Herrera and Jeff Mackler, Co-coordinators, The Mobilization to Free
Mumia Abu-Jamal and others

* Special greetings from Mumia Abu-Jamal and from Pam Africa, International
Concerned Family and Friends of Mumia Abu-Jamal

The meeting will include a legal update and distribution of new materials
on Mumia's case.

If you can't make it, send your generous contribution payable to: The
Mobilization to Free Mumia Abu-Jamal 298 Valencia Street San Francisco, CA
94103

Directions: Randall Street crosses both Mission Street and San Jose. Turn
right (or west) on Randall and follow it until it deadends at Harper. 296
Randall is the corner house on the right).

Update on The Mobilization to Free Mumia Abu-Jamal recent activities:

1) The Mobe is working with the International Family and Friends to Free
Mumia Abu-Jamal to build a May 2006 U.S. delegation to visit Paris
(Saint-Denis, a suburb), France, where the city government has named a
major new street, Rue Mumia Abu-Jamal, the main artery leading to the
Nelson Mandela Sport's Stadium, (the largest in Europe) to express its
solidarity with Mumia's struggle against the death penalty and for a new
trial. Commemoration ceremonies will include an official government
delegation to welcome the U.S. participants. Nelson Mandela has been asked
to join the ceremonies.

2) The Mobe worked hard to build the recent and massive rallies at San
Quentin prison to protest the State's murder of death row inmates Stanley
"Tookie" Williams, Donald Beardsley and others. Mobe speakers presented
solidarity greetings from Mumia to all San Quentin rallies.

3) Similarly Mobe speakers were invited by Death Penalty Focus to join
anti-death penalty rallies at San Francisco City Hall and others organized
at the California State Building.

4) The Mobe has just published, in conjunction with the International
Concerned Family and Friends of MAJ, a new pamphlet/handbook, "The Case of
Mumia Abu-Jamal . This comprehensive work features legal updates on Mumia's
case as well as the basic history and facts of the frame-up that resulted
in Mumia's incarceration.

5) A Mobe speaker was featured on KPFA's Flashpoints coverage of the March
18 antiwar demonstration at San Francisco's Civic Center. Mumia's case was
detailed by Mobe leaders on KPFA's Flashpoints over the past few months.

6) Mobe literature tables and mass leafleting on Mumia's case are regular
aspects of our work. At the March 18 antiwar rally the Mobe sold nearly
$300 in literature, pamphlets, videos and buttons.

7) The Mobe just received our reorder for 300 new Mumia buttons and new
T-Shirts. Check our website to order. (freemumia.org)

8) The Mobe joined a panel of leading attorneys and anti-death penalty
activists to commemorate the National Lawyers' Guild nationwide day of
protest against the death penalty. A Mobe speaker presented the case and
the Mobe's opposition to the death penalty at Golden Gate Law School in
February at the invitation of the local NLF Chapter.

9) Mobe co-coordinator Jeff Mackler addressed two meetings in Santa Rosa in
January on Mumia's case, the first at Santa Rosa Junior College, the second
at a local community center.

10) The Mobe fills requests for literature from cities across the country,
including kits on the case, videos, etc.

11) The Mobe has invited Hamburg, Germany's Michael Schifferman, (who has
accepted our invitation) the author of a leading new book on Mumia's case,
(to be translated into English soon) to speak in San Francisco in the
coming months.

12) The Mobe is collaborating with an Italian filmmaker in the production
of a new film on Mumia's life and struggle.

13) Mobe leaders collaborate with Mumia's lead counsel, Robert R. Bryan in
the preparation of accurate legal updates that are published round the
world.

Join the Mobe (Mobilization to Free Mumia Abu-Jamal)! A victory for Mumia
and his freedom will represented a resounding victory for all humanity. For
