Introductory workshops on watershed assessment and adaptive management
techniques for whole watersheds; topics include water quality, water
quantity, habitat, erosion, and the effects of land use.

Hands-on and outdoor workshops on local creeks and watersheds, fire
vegetation management, natural history, project planning, grant writing and
the Sustainable Peralta Colleges Initiative.

local watersheds by pulling invasive French Broom, and having fun doing it!
Class credit is available for the day by signing up for our EMART 10,
Special Projects in Ecological Design class. Sunday, 11am-2pm; meet at the
Merritt Environmental Center, in the Self-Reliant House (SRH). For more

MID APRIL- SUSTAINABLE PERALTA VIDEO WORKSHOP:
Design videos from the March 10th conference footage, view videos of famous
environmental leaders at Merritt. Class credit is available for the day by

We invite you to join us for our Spring Funding Workshops, held late April
and early May. These workshops are designed to help students learn the
basics of grant writing, and include information about writing narratives,

APRIL 22ND- EARTH DAY WORK DAY AND WATERSHED TOUR
What better way to spend Earth Day than to help your local watersheds while
learning more about them! Held in conjunction with the Landscape
Horticulture Department's Spring Plant Sale.


LATE MAY- AFRICA-US CONNECTION WORKSHOPS
Presenters: Nehanda Imara, Teame Haddis, Robin Freeman
The Merritt College Environmental Program and African American Studies have
forgien travel programs, and proposals to visit and work with African
Environmental Initiatives, including the East African Environmental
Initiatives. Learn about these opportunities, and help plan them. Class
credit is available for these workshops by signing up for our EMART 10,
Special Projects in Ecological Design class.
