Santa Cruz County Workers’ Strike: A Success
95 Percent of Nonessential Santa Cruz County Workers Stay Off the Job
This morning, Santa Cruz County workers kicked off our 24 hour strike with picket lines throughout the County. Our count shows that 95 percent of nonessential Santa Cruz County workers stayed off the job. This shows that we are truly united in obtaining a good contract.
The Issues We Face
As working families, we deserve to be fairly compensated for the vital services we provide to County residents. The Board of Supervisors continues to ignore our contract demands for comparable wages, healthcare, and retirement benefits. Considering that the Board of Supervisors pays itself a hefty compensation package, we deserve better treatment.
Take Action Now: Call the Board of Supervisors
Please use your cell phone right now and call the Board of Supervisors at 831.454.2200.
Let them know that they need to pay us fairly for the services we provide to the community. If you don’t have a cell phone, borrow one from your co-worker on the picket line.
