FRESNANS SAY NO TO GOVERNMENTAL SURVEILLANCE OF U.S. CITIZENS
We Accuse President of Breaking the Law by Wiretapping Americans
MoveOn Members in Fresno Urge
Congressmen Radanovich, Costa, and Nunez
to Hold President Accountable
FRESNO – On Wednesday, Feb. 22, residents of Fresno will hold a "Constitution Rights Vigil" to call for a thorough and independent investigation of the president’s illegal wiretapping program. Peace Fresno thanks California Attorney General Bill Lockyer for his investigation of the undercover surveillance of Peace Fresno by the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department and asks that he make a public report on his findings.
Rep. Heather Wilson (R-NM), who chairs the subcommittee that oversees the National Security Agency, was joined by at least six other Republicans in questioning the president’s legal authority to use wiretaps. Wilson has called for a full-scale Congressional investigation.
"No one is above the law, not even the president," said Camille Russell, MoveOn Political Action member in Fresno. "We ask that our Congressmen, Radanovich, Costa, and Nunez call for a full Congressional investigation of the unwarranted wiretapping. Our President does not have absolute power under the constitution. Congress must act."
