Honoring Eric Kleemeyer a year after being murdered by SCPD

On Tuesday night 3rd January at 11:00pm, about 50 people gathered at the corner of Clara Vista Ave. and Serra Avenue in Santa Clara to honor Eric Kleemeyer’s short young life, cut very short by the trigger happy and blood thirsty thugs in blue gangstas, a.k.a. SCPD. Eric Kleemeyer was shot dead in his car last year, not even a month after his 22nd birthday, after being chased by the SCPD. Eric was in his car and was unarmed and was still brutally murdered in cold blood. According to his website: http://www.erickleemeyer.com:
“On Tuesday, January 4, 2005, shortly after midnight, 22-year-old Eric Kleemeyer, was being pursued by three Santa Clara police officers (Craig Middlekauff, Jeff Vaden and Dawn Marines)  in his 1965 Dodge Dart.  He refrained from pulling over as he was driving to his mom’s house.  He was unarmed and feared for his life because of a previous beating that went unreported.  Police then boxed him in a driveway across the street from his mom’s house.  Without identifying themselves or asking him to step out of the car, they opened fire and shot him 7 times as he sat in his car.  An ambulance arrived, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.  Immediately following this incident, the Santa Clara Police Department issued a statement condoning their police officers' conduct.”

So, about an hour before midnight, and a year later, 50 people who were family, friends, coworkers, or people who had heard about Eric’s tragic death, gathered to remember Eric, to carry on his spirit, honor him and his family. We walked the route of Eric’s last few minutes while driving home to the safety of his mother, which he did not succeed to do. The cops, who are not held accountable nor responsible when they shoot and kill human beings, shot Eric to death while he was still sitting in his car. Eric’s family and friends are keeping Eric’s spirit alive. During the summer they organized a Justice Fest in St. James Park - bands played all day long to honor Eric. He lives on very strongly and powerfully in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. It was an honor to walk with Eric’s family and friends and coworkers and people who had never met Eric, but came to the candlelight walk to remember Eric Kleemeyer.
