Eye of the Storm is a collaboration of the Ella Baker Center’s programs Bay Area
PoliceWatch and Reclaim the Future. In celebration of Reclaim the Future’s recent
release of their CD, we present you with a night of art, music and poetry that
connects the racial neglect of New Orleans to police brutality in the Bay Area. As
the discrimination against poor communities and communities of color in this country
continues to be ignored and perpetuated, we attempt to break the silence and convey
our message that the path to peaceful streets and true community safety is not more
prisons and police, but ecologically sound and nondiscriminatory economic
development.
