Berkeley Liberation Radio Benefit and Concert December 10th

by Rubble
Berkeley Liberation Radio holds a 60's blues and rock-inspired concert in Berkeley to raise operating funds and interact with the microradio public on Saturday, December 10th at Roundtree's Rhythm and Blues Hall of Fame Museum.
As Clear Channel and other giant radio companies continue to expand and further sanitize the radio airwaves to serve the institutions of powers, and the corporate-controlled FCC fills its local microradio mandate through sporadic, watered down small-town microbroadcasters while infultrating and criminalizing legitimate unlicensed stations, self-funded 104.1FM microbroadcaster Berkeley Liberation Radio drives on, serving the greater Berkeley/North Oakland area with an improved broadcast signal in an undisclosed, temporary underground location.

60's blues and rock greats will perform in a benefit/fundraiser for Berkeley Liberation Radio. Since summer eviction and FCC illegal broadcasting notices forced BLR from its long-time studio location, the station has continued broadcasting in a temporary location without phone or internet hook-up. The station is holding a benefit to raise necessary operating funds along with community support and interaction with listeners.

Performers include blues great Nick Gravenites (Butterfield Blues Band, Electric Flag), Barry "The Fish" Melton (Country Joe and the Fish), Roy Blumenfeld (Blues Project), and Banana (The Youngbloods), along with Janis Joplin peers Peter Albin (Big Brother and The Holding Company) and Snooky Flowers (Full Tilt Boogie Band). Delicious blues cuisine will be served.

The show is held Saturday, December 10. Doors open at 8PM, music starts at 9:30 and the show should go on late! Blues cuisine will be served.

$10 and what you can afford. Rountree's Rhythm and Blues Hall of Fame. 2618 San Pablo Ave. (@Parker), Berkeley. Be there!!!!
