The Indian People Organizing for Change and SSP&RIT have sponsored a Shellmound Peace Walk all over the Bay Area. Shellmounds are Sacred Burial Grounds that should be respected by all - just we we respect the burial grounds or cemetaries of other religions.
Shellmounds are NOT trash sites or middens called by certain bias folks that have no clue about the rich traditions and culture of the Ohlone who lived in the Bay Area for over 13,000 years.
Kudos to the Shellmound Peace Walkers who started walking November 5, 2005 in the East Bay and will end their march on Novermber 25, 2005.
On November 24, 2005 most of us will meet on Alcatraz Island to celebrate International Day of Solidarity with Indigenious People of the Americas.
Please buy your ferry tickets in advance so that you all can join us in this great celebration for Truth and Justice.
