Sacramento City Council To Vote on Anti-War Resolution on November 1!

by Dan Bacher (danielbacher [at] hotmail.com)
Don't miss the Sacramento City Council hearing on the Iraq War resolution on Tuesday, November 1 at 7 p.m.
November 1 City Council hearing on Iraq War resolution -- be there!

On Tuesday, November 1, 2005, 7pm, the Sacramento City Council will hear &
vote on a resolution to withdraw U.S. troops & bases from Iraq. We need to
fill the chamber with those who want this war ended. Please come and bring
others with you; this item is supposed to be one of the first items on the
agenda.

The council meets in the new City Hall, located behind the old city
hall building at 915 I, (enter from 9th or 10th.)

Also, if you have not already called your city council person, please do so,
916-808-5407.  Tell them you want their vote to end the U.S. occupation of
Iraq NOW.

A most ill advised resolution that both negates the brave Iraqi's attempting to set up representative government and the U.S man and women engaged in supporting those same Iraqis. Some things take years to accomplish. After neville Chamberlains 'brilliant' endorsement of Adolph Hitler in the 1930s, many years passed and many lives were sacrificed in order to give the world a free Europe. Some oppose anything President Bush supports, but this effort supercedes individuals and politics. I strongly urge the City Council to reject this pointless resolution.

This ill advised resolution leaves the impression that only American or Europeans should have the right of self government. I am ashamed that I come from a city that lacks the basic concept of the right to vote, just as they did, to condemn this fight for freedom. Fortunately they are not anything other than city council members.
