12pm Monday in Oakland: Vigil for Marriage Equality

by MECA (robin at marriageequalityca.org)
Use your lunch hour. Come alone or bring your families, co-workers, friends. It’s
near BART (12th Street station is just a few blocks away). We will be peaceful, we
will be present, we will be together, and we will be standing vigil for our rights.

"Marriage, Anything Less Is Less Than Equal"
==================================================

To everyone who cares about marriage equality – SHOW UP AT NOON ON MONDAY,
SEPTEMBER 26 AT THE ELIHU HARRIS STATE BUILDING, 1515 CLAY STREET, IN DOWNTOWN
OAKLAND.

We have fought so hard to get AB 849, the Religious Freedom and Civil Marriage
Protection Act, through the California legislature. What an incredible victory. Yet
it now sits on the Governor’s desk for his signature or veto. He has announced he
will veto it. We can’t let him veto our rights without our eyes upon him. Don’t
let the day go by without showing our real life faces.

I have signs. Please feel free to make signs of your own, but your presence is what
is really needed. Your face, your eyes, your heart. Let it be known that we look to
our government to protect our civil rights and that the time has come to leave the
tradition of discrimination behind –that we are watching.

Use your lunch hour. Come alone or bring your families, co-workers, friends. It’s
near BART (12th Street station is just a few blocks away). We will be peaceful, we
will be present, we will be together, and we will be standing vigil for our rights.

A reply letting me know your intention to come would be great! But come no matter
what!
