Major rally to express outrage over Iraq War and Bush's incompetent response to Katrina victims.

Due to overwhelming disgust with the Bush administration's handling of the war and hurricane relief efforts in New Orleans and the Gulf states, local peace activists will hold a major anti-war/anti-Bush rally at 16th & Broadway this Saturday, September 10, from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm.

According to Stephen Pearcy, an organizer of the Saturday rallies, “Attendance numbers at Broadway have grown remarkably over the last four weeks.  Many people have recently come out to participate for the first time ever!  Parents are bringing their kids; high school and college students are participating; and members of Grandmothers for Peace, Veterans for Peace, Code Pink, Sacramento Area Peace Action, the Central America Action Committee, Sacramento For Democracy and other organizations are attending.”

The rally will also incorporate fundraising efforts for the Veterans for Peace bus caravan to Washington, D.C., which recently detoured while en route to Washington to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina.  They brought food and supplies from Camp Casey and the Crawford Peace House to hurricane
victims in Covington, LA.
