Bay Area Activist Relief Caravan to Louisiana

Several street medics and other activists from the Bay Area are about to embark on a relief caravan to Louisiana.
About a dozen - and counting - medics from the Bay Area Radical Health Collective and other activists will be leaving September 10 as part of a relief caravan to areas affected by Hurricane Katrina. At this point, they are planning to deliver donated supplies, connect with other grassroots relief efforts on the ground, and try to determine where the need is greatest and how others can help on an ongoing basis. Longer term, BARHC members hope to participate in some sort of ongoing grassroots disaster preparedness and response effort, such as the Mutual Aid Emergency Reponse Network that has already been proposed. It's a bit to last minute to try to corral donations in the Bay Area, but if you can donate medical supplies in a pinch, please send mail to liz@black-rose.com. Monetary donations are also welcome to cover expenses, and we're working on getting a PayPal account in place. If the team is able to get out reports and photos, I'll be posting them here.
