Tenant’s Union Benefit Concert Today (August 19th)

by Bey
Casey Mills 18.AUG.05
From Ellis Act eviction picket lines to a Tenant’s Rights guidebook, from getting progressive housing legislation passed to tenaciously defending rent control, San Franciscans can thank the Tenant’s Union for consistently fighting for renters throughout the city. Tomorrow night, they’re putting on Rock and Roll Burlesque, replete with a variety of local bands, dancers, and performers, to raise funds for their efforts. “We’re raising desperately needed money to continue fighting for tenants,” said Tenant’s Union head Ted Gullickson. “One of our goals is to keep rents low so you can drink more!”

The show will include dancers Rose Pistola, Cheery Lix, Bombshell Betty, The Flying Fox, and Roky Roulette; DJ's Bratty Brett, Jodie Artichoke, and Anton from the Doll Squad; go-go dancer Theresa; Uke players Riff Ditties and Cracker Jack Salteen; along with the bands, "Larry, Hall, and Jack," "the Barbary Coasters," "Lord Loves a Working Man," and "Nice Pants". MC Odessa Lil will be there as well. All proceeds go to help the SF Tenants Union.

The concert will be held at 330 Ritch Street. Doors will open at 8, and the show will start at 10. Tickets are available for $10. For more information, check out http://www.sftu.org.
