scheduled events below (most of which are in the Eastbay this month), you could help
out at our San Francisco office or work with our Walnut Creek based intern arranging

below for all the details.

JOIN THE "JUST SAY KNOW" CAMPAIGN!

HELP US SPREAD THE WORD TO CALIFORNIANS ABOUT THE INITIATIVES THAT WOULD CHANGE THE
CALIFORNIA CONSTITUTION TO TAKE AWAY DOMESTIC PARTNER RIGHTS AND DENY MARRIAGE
EQUALITY TO SAME-SEX COUPLES.

There are all kinds of ways to help. You could sign up for one or more of the
scheduled events below (most of which are in the Eastbay this month), you could help
out at our San Francisco office or work with our Walnut Creek based intern arranging
a time that fits your schedule, you could help out from your home as well. See
below for all the details.

If we all do everything we can to help, we'll be able to make Californians all over
the state aware that these initiatives are about discrimination not about
"protection".

SCHEDULED EVENTS

Our goal at each of these events will be to identify marriage equality supporters
and recruit new volunteers.

Saturday, August 20: Black in the Life Family Day
At F.M. Smith Park at 1969 Park Blvd. in Oakland from 11-3pm. Come hear Raz B
from B2K live. Help out at the EQCA booth for a couple hours and enjoy the show.

people as they enter the theater to see the film short, "Jumpin' The Broom: The New

http://www.clubrimshot.com/filmfestival.html for details on the festival.

Door-to-Door Canvass in Berkeley
We'll be following up on our successful first canvass in Berkeley last weekend.
Help us build our base of support and volunteers in the Eastbay. We'll have a full
training from 4-5pm, canvass, with a partner on the other side of the street from
5-6pm, and share some pizza, stories, and celebrate our accomplishment from 7-8pm.

At Lake Merritt and Snow Park in Oakland. This is the big Eastbay dyke march.
We'll have a booth at the festival after the march at Snow Park from 12-5pm. The
most important time to cover is 2-5pm. See http://www.sistahssteppin.org
<http://www.sistahssteppin.org/> for details on the event.

Sunday, August 28
Door-to-Door Canvass in Concord
This is a follow up to our successful first canvass in Walnut Creek last month.
We'll have a full training from 4-5pm, canvass, with a partner on the other side of
the street from 5-6pm, and share some pizza, stories, and celebrate our
accomplishment from 7-8pm. Contact me for location.

OTHER WAYS TO HELP
From your home at anytime you can help in at least the following ways:
Host a House Party: This campaign will clearly need a lot of financial support to do
the valuable education work which will make or break our efforts over the many
months ahead. You could help by hosting a House Party. The cool thing about a
House Party is that you get to have a party and be an activist at the same time. No
guilt! Please contact me for details.

Enter Postcards to the Governor into an Excel file

We still have a big pile of postcards that we collected at SF Pride which need to be
entered into our database before we can deliver them to the Governor. Since the
vote on AB 849 will be over in a few weeks we need to make sure we get this job done
soon. We can send you a form as an attachment and mail you the cards to enter.
Contact me for details.

Help Out at the Office: We always need help in the San Francisco office, which is
at 2370 Market St. near Castro. Any weekday during the day and most weekday
evenings we are here and ready to put you to work. ;) We need:
* Data entry help of all kinds
* Phone callers to recruit volunteers from a list of supporters (evenings are
best for this).
* Clipboarders to recruit volunteers a block away on Castro Street.

Contact me to let me know when you are available to help. Volunteer Internships are
available.

Work with our Contra Costa County summer intern
Gabe Rose, the President of the Student Coalition for Marriage Equality at UCLA is
interning with us in Walnut Creek this summer. If you live in that area he could
use your help. Contact him at (925)-285-8755 or gaberose18 [at] gmail.com.

Thanks for helping EQCA defend domestic partner rights and fight for true marriage
equality!
