Reclaim the Parks! Reclaim Modesto!

by D.A.A.A. Collective (modanarcho [at] yahoo.com)
Occupy Tower Park to demand the city disclose what happened to funds that were supposed to go towards an emergency shelter! The emergency still is not over, with hundereds of people needing places to sleep, and warm food to eat.
RECLAIM THE PARKS!
Another Modesto is Possible!

Last year the city was given close to $1.7 million dollars to keep open an emergency shelter on 9th and D Street. The shelter was run by volunteers and paid employees, and gave a place for people to sleep, and a warm meal to eat. The shelter was an alternative to the Gospel Mission, and the constant harassment and tickets from police while trying to sleep outside.

But with the shelter closed down, we now have to raise our collective voices and ask what happened to the funds that were supposed to keep people off the street, and the shelter running. As rents soar everywhere, as jobs don’t pay enough everywhere, as the city threatens to sell Tower Park and other parks used by the homeless, our city is under attack! It’s up to us to tell the rich people who think they own this town that we want to be treated like human beings and nothing less!

What: Occupy Tower Park for a day, to call for the city to disclose what happened to the $1.7 million that went to keep the Emergency Shelter, and other homeless programs running.
