Rally staged against Israeli barrier

by Aljazeera (reposted)
Residents of a Palestinian village have staged a protest against the separation barrier being built by Israel in the West Bank.
Israeli occupation troops confronted the protesters on Friday.

The two sides clashed when the demonstrators tried to advance towards the territories being razed in preparation for extending the barrier wall.

Some demonstrators were injured while others were arrested by Israeli troops.

The demonstration coincided with the 38th anniversary of the the Israeli occupation of West Bank and Gaza, and also marked the 100th day of the beginning of popular resistance in the village against the occupation.

Many Palestinians describe the structure as an "apartheid wall" while Israel calls it security barrier.

Meanwhile, a survey of Israeli public opinion has shown that support for the planned pullout from the Gaza Strip and four West Bank settlements has sunk by nine percentage points over the past two weeks, to a new low of 50%, the Maariv newspaper reported on Friday.

Since the TNS/Teleseker polling firm began surveying Israeli sentiment on the withdrawal for Maariv in February 2004, support has fluctuated between 52% and 65%. Two weeks ago the same polling company reported 59% support.

Still, pullout supporters significantly outweigh opponents: 38% of those surveyed oppose the withdrawal, the report said. The poll of 531 people had a margin of error of 4.1 percentage points.

I'm surprised that Al Jizeera didn't refer to the "apartheid" wall in the title of this story. Guess they gave that up after people in the informed--i.e. free--world dismissed that as nonsense. Just like they dropped the Berlin Wall analogies. Everyone knows the Berlin Wall was made to keep the citizens of a Totalitarian Socialist regime inside the borders. Israel's wall is being built to keep terrorists out. That's a big difference.
The IDF unveiled Friday a new crowd-dispersal tactic, emitting painful bursts of sound at a special frequency to help break up a violent Palestinian demonstration, military officials and witnesses said.

IDF officials confirmed soldiers used a new non-lethal tactic in the West Bank village of Bilin, where hundreds of demonstrators rallied against Israel's separation barrier.

The officials said the weapon uses voice frequencies to disperse crowds. Israel developed the technology over the past four years, but had never used it in a live situation before Friday, they said.

No further details were immediately available.

An Associated Press photographer said a military vehicle arrived toward the end of the demonstration, which lasted several hours and became violent at times.

Clubs and stun grenades also used

Located about 500 meters (a quarter mile) from the demonstration, the vehicle emitted several bursts of sounds, about one minute in length each time. Although the sound was not loud, it caused people to cover their ears and grab their heads in discomfort.

About 400 people, including Palestinians and foreign and Israeli activists, participated in the demonstration, marching toward a site where Israel is building its West Bank separation fence.

The crowd was prevented from reaching the site, and began rioting and throwing rocks at soldiers, the army said.

In addition to the sound machine, soldiers used other means to disperse the crowd, including clubs and stun grenades.

by From The Wall To The Trench, Gaza Prison Camp
The Israel Defense Forces have found a way to block the tunnels Palestinians dig under the Gaza-Egypt border to smuggle in weapons by using a huge trench-digging machine, according to a military publication.
The 100-ton behemoth would dig deep channels along the border route Israel patrols, exposing the tunnels, the soldiers' weekly "Bamahane" reports in its current edition.
The new trenching machine, made U.S. company Trencor Inc., might provide at least an interim answer to the smuggling problem by neutralizing tunnels now in operation.

But you might wonder why is Israel building a trench on the wrong side of Gaza if Gaza is going to be independent after Israel "pulls out" this summer? A warsaw ghetto like wall in Jerusalem keeping Arab's out (while expelling and tearing down Arab houses on the "wrong side" of the new ws was justified by proIsrael racists on the grounds that it would keep the two sides from fighting and help with peace. Lets hear what excuse these same racists have for a trench between Gaza and Egypt that will be policed by the Israel...

don't forget the Isreali terrorists

And of course none of this would be a problem and there would be no need for protests,
And Israel could have their wall.
All they need to do is build it on the pre 1967 (Green Line) Border.
To end the Resistance to the Occupation….end the Occupation that allows for the Resistance….

End the Blood shed and the Conflict, Palestinian State Now:

Once you have the Palestinian State in the Whole of the West Bank and Gaza. You are on the Road to Peace and the Israeli Arabs have a better chance of equality as the Jewish Settlers will have a better chance at Peace. After all what is wrong with the State of Israel with a Jewish majority and an Arab minority?....And what is wrong With Palestine with a Palestinian majority and a Jewish minority?....Nothing, if both nations were at Peace instead of One Group under the Brutal Occupation and Oppression of the Other.

Once you have a Palestinian State, the Israeli Arabs who do not like living in Israel can move to Palestine, Just like the Jewish settlers who do not like living in the West Bank and Gaza under Palestinian Rule can move to Israel Proper.
Do the right thing and Peace Will Follow......

Hypocrisy and double standard does not lead to peace, and people are not blind and they can see the truth as it really is.

Thirty-six years of war should be enough for such a small number of people, when you consider the World Population.
Allowing the Palestinian People to have their small state in the Whole of the West Bank and Gaza can solve this conflict.
There are 1,200,000 or so Arabs living inside Israel Proper.
There are 400,000 or so Jews living inside the West Bank and Gaza.
Trying to remove all the settlement can be an almost undoable task.
So Set the Borders for Israel to it Pre 1967 Border (Green Line) and have the State of Palestine inside the West Bank and Gaza.
If the U.N. can decide the Borders of Israel in 1948,
The U.N. can decide the Borders of Palestine in 2005.
You would end up with Israel with a majority Jewish Population and Palestine with a majority Muslim Population.
This would allow for the Israeli Military to Guard and Control the Israeli pre 1967 borders instead of confiscating Palestinian Land and Demolishing Palestinian Homes in the West Bank and Gaza that only goes to fuel the need for the Palestinian People to fight for their Freedom.
The Jews who do not like living in the new Palestinian State can feel free to move to Israel if they so choose.
The Arabs living inside Israel can feel free to move to the new Palestinian State if they so choose.
Almost every nation on earth has more then one ethnic group or religious group, so why not Israel and Palestine?
It would sure be better then the never-ending conflict we have right now.
