What: A delegation of Bay Area immigrants rights activists is traveling to the Arizona border this weekend as a gesture of solidarity in support of the immigrant communities that are suffering unjust policies and racist attacks on the Arizona border. They will call on elected law enforcement officials to stop the Minutemen and other paramilitary hate groups.
The multi-racial delegation of 15 consists of immigrants and their allies, all of whom are organizing locally for immigrant rights. They will caravan to Douglas, Arizona on Saturday. On Sunday, they will meet with local groups and participate in an Interfaith Vigil.
On Monday, April 18, the delegation will hold a press conference to bring the message that in every community, from San Francisco to Tucson, from San Diego to Phoenix, we must organize for just immigration policy and against these hate groups and their terror tactics.
The delegation seeks to call attention to the violation of immigrant rights from Guantanamo to Tucson, as well as the economic injustice on an international level that causes immigration.
