Please distribute widely. Please call the Santa Clara County D.A.s office 408-299-3099 and complain as a concerned citizen that the Eric Kleemeyer shooting death should NOT be a closed Grand Jury. Demand an open Grand Jury! I called the office today, I forgot to ask who I was speaking to, someone in the investigators office, was told she would check when the closed Grand Jury for Eric Kleemeyer starts. I don't know if we can make enough noise to stop the closed Grand Jury and change to an open one, but it is worth the effort. Please do what you can to complain about how serious this is and how very concerned you are! in solidarity, Donna From: lalowski05 at yahoo.com Subject: Closed Grand Jury Date: April 5, 2005 8:33:14 PM PDT After all of our efforts, they decided to keep it a closed grand jury. This is not the end for us though. We will continue to fight this. This is a link to the San Jose Mercury News article: http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/news/breaking_news/ 11310066.htm. After reading the article, my mother sent this e-mail to the author: Hi Crystal, I read the article in today's paper and just wanted to clear some things up for you. We had originally requested an open grand jury when we first met with Karen and Peter. I'm not sure what Karen is talking about in saying that we met with her "at length" because the one and only meeting Sue, Tony and I had with Karen was all but 1/2 hour if that. In my book that isn't a meeting "at length". How does Karen know that there hasn't been a public misunderstanding, when the DA's office hangs up on the public and is told that George Kennedy doesn't want to talk to them, and that they have to have a lawyer in order to talk to the DA's office. This is what happened last Friday when we had asked the public to call the DA's office and request that the Kleemeyer case change to an open grand jury. Does this type of response from the DA's office instill public trust? We were just told last week that Peter was no longer on the case and that it was assigned to Dan. We were told at that time that the grand jury was meeting on 4/5 to 4/8 and not at the end of June as originally planned. We really didn't have time to respond. Eric's family and the public really believe that the DA's office is representing the police officers that murdered Eric and not representing Eric and his family. We have talked to so many people who have shared heart wrenching stories of similar experiences. We have also learned that the SCPD is harassing Eric's friends an in one case going into San Jose to do so. Stay tuned for yet another possible law suit against SCPD on this one. We will keep you posted. I guess that when Karen says that "our version of the events are not based on hard facts" that she is backing the SCPD report and not what the eye witnesses have stated. So the message the DA's office is sending to the public is that "The Police are Above the Law" and that the DA's office will protect and represent the police and not the public. When we met with Dan this past week we were told that we would not have access to the facts.....that all testimony would be sealed. So, why are we getting conflicting information from the DA's office? Thanks Crystal and if you need to contack either Sue or myself (Cindy), here is our contact information: Cindy Lalowski cindylalowski [at] hotmail.com 408-839-1394 Sue Reardon shaxton3 [at] netzero.com 408-410-5105 This is the latest information.
