In response to military violence - demonstrations against the
Annexation Wall in
Deir Ballut and Bil'in tomorrow.

7 April, 2005

1. Tomorrow- Protest Against The Wall in Deir Ballut in Response to
Shooting of the Abdullah family.

Deir Ballut, a village in the Salfit region, will hold a
demonstration in response to the shooting of four villagers and the
continued construction of the Annexation Wall. Yesterday Israeli
private
security shot four family members of the Abdullah
family with live ammunition, while they were tending to their land.
The Abdullah
family's land happens to lie in the path of the Annexation Wall.

The demonstration will start at the center of the village at the
municipal
building at 10 am and will proceed to march to where the wall is
being currently
constructed.

One family member Khamda Abdullah is still in critical condition.
The three other members of the family are in stable condition.

Agriculture is the primary source of income for the four thousand
inhabitants of
Deir Ballut. The Wall will confiscate most
of their arable land and olive trees, effectively denying the
villagers a
livelihood.

Deir Ballut and two neighboring villages will be completely
surrounded by the
Wall, making access to services such as health care and higher
education
extremely difficult.

2. Bil'in continues to resist!

Tomorrow the people of Bil'in, a village in the Ramallah district,
will hold a demonstration against the continued construction of the
Israeli
government's Annexation Wall.

The demonstration will begin at 12.30 at the village mosque.

The Annexation Wall will leave 1.500 acres and five thousand olive
trees from
Bil'in and its neighboring village Saffa inaccessible. Olive trees
are the main
source of income in Bil'in and Saffa.

The construction of the Wall in Saffa and Bil'in will incorporate
existing
settlements as well as planned future settlements. This is contrary
to the
requirements of the Road Map, which stipulates a freeze in Israeli
settlement
growth.

In a demonstration in Bil'in yesterday, five Palestinian
protestors were wounded by rubber bullets and beatings. On 3. April,
Jonathan
Pollack, an Israeli activist, suffered a brain hemorrhage after a
teargas
canister war fired directly at his person. This is a common practice
by Israeli
soldiers and is in violation of the Israeli Military's rules of
engagement.
