"Small (and Local) Is Beautiful: Day of Action for a New Juvenile Justice System"

WHAT: Sacramento Day of Action for a New Juvenile Justice System

Join us as we bring hope for the future —and workable ideas — to the state's
policy-makers. Change is on the horizon and we want to make sure CYA’s abusive and
costly youth prisons are closed and replaced with small centers built for
rehabilitation and local community programs. This is the most effective way to
ensure real rehabilitation for youth and safer communities. Please join us as we
take a bus-load of families, youth, and advocates to Sacramento!

On the steps of the Capitol Building, we will set up a big photographic exhibit to
show everyone concrete examples of what juvenile justice should — and shouldn't —
look like in California. We’ll also meet with legislators to bring our vision for
juvenile justice and make sure policy makers go the distance with reforms.

THE LOS ANGELES FREE CLINIC and BOOKS NOT BARS PRESENT

"SYSTEM FAILURE:
Violence, Abuse and Neglect in the California Youth Authority"

California. This 30-minute video exposes the horrific conditions and human rights

facilities to be replaced with regional rehabilitation centers and local community
based alternatives.
