IMMIGRANTS UNDER ATTACK
IMMIGRANTS UNDER ATTACK! On Saturday, February 26, 3pm a Community Speak-Out took place at 24th and Mission, San Francisco. Speakers from the Latin, Black and Arab communities addressed the need to support communities in struggle, to stand against attacks on immigrants and people of color, to help organize and have a voice in the anti-war movement, to speak out against occupation and repression from Iraq to our communities at home, to get involved and help build for the international day of protest on March 19th! (***see below) Today, more than ever, all immigrant communities are ONE COMMUNITY that includes Latinos, Asians, Arabs, Filipinos and others, because our communities are being attacked. Cuts in health care, education, housing and community programs are seriously affecting us. Let's organize ourselves to say NO to funding War and YES to funding our communities. *** Global Day of Coordinated Actions In San Francisco March 19, 11am Dolores Park, March to Civic Center (NOTE: The first photo is of speaker Celia Tello of the A.N.S.W.E.R. Comments (Hide Comments)protests are fine

Dear Answer/International Answer/NION
All these protests are fine, but the US government is not listening. Why would you all just keep doing protests when Bush doesn't care. Speaking with experience: If you don't committ to large scale civil unrest then the US government is going to keep doing what is has always done. Ignore us and say this a democracy. Well we all know this country is no longer a democracy, so what are we going to do about it. Reclaim the country. Fuck the commons we want our country back. Violence does have a postive purpose. It can get the attention of leaders. WE NEED LARGE SCALE CIVIL UNREST NOW. our happy Stalinists at play

And here are our North Korean-loving WWP Stalinists out for another of their "protests" that no one cares about and that do nothing. Please do NOT be fooled by these people...ANSWER doesn't care about you, your causes, or your hopes. It cares ONLY about taking over your movement and using it for their own end. They are dangerous, lying, deceivers.
poor self-esteem

"And here are our North Korean-loving WWP Stalinists out for another of their "protests" that no one cares about..."
Leo is absolutely fixated on the WWP. Apparently, he considers himself "no one." pay attention

I am not fixated on the WWP. But I do want people who read this site to know that the WWP is the group behind ANSWER, the IAC and a host of other front groups that they control. They are Stalinist goons who do not care about immigrants, the war, the poor, or much of anything other than amassing as much power as they can. And yes, I do feel that protests produce nothing. The mainstream doesn't care. And until you can influence the way middle America thinks, you are wasting your time. The anti-war groups in the 60s were focused on ending the Vietnam war, and not much else. When the public came around to their views, the war ended because the politicans knew that continued support of it was political suicide. That's the way the system works. Every time you have ANSWER goons running around and inciting violence you end up alienating the very people you are trying to reach.
not quite true

If it were true, talking about the WWP controlling ANSWER would be kinda like talking about Skull&Bones or Harvard Alumni controlling the US. Many WWP people helped form ANSWER and many used to be in positions of power and use ANSWER to the advantage of the WWP. When peopel say front group it implies comspiracy but since WWP members are pretty open about being WWP members, whats the problem? Of course the funny part about righties talking about the WWP ANSWER connection is that they its no longer true since the WWP split and at least on the West Coast most involved with ANSWER are no longer WWP members. ?

Hmm, thats the usual anarchist line but comming from a right-wing sounding voice its even less believable. If what you say were the case one would expect a healthy and large antiwar movement in cities where ANSWER has no presense. Blaming groups doing things for getting in the way of others wanting to do things is an easy cop out. The antiVietNam war movement had more militants that exist in the antiwar movement today and while there were mainstream groups then opposed to the war one has United For Peace and other groups like that today too. Perhaps MoveOn could get many more people in the streets than ANSWER but they just dont have a guts to take a stand thats not all about partisan support for the Democraps and ANSWER isnt whats standing in their way from having guts. suuuuuuuuuure

Ummm, perhaps you have not noticed. The U.S. is becoming more Right leaning every month. You have a conservative governor in one of the (used to be) most liberal states - and the talk is that most want him for our president! Bush got reelected against a highly funded senior senator. Bush failed miserably during the debates and it made absolutely, positively no difference. Your "take the community back" whimpers will be totally unnoticed other than on the block that they occur and on leftist boards. But keep it up, just like good sex it is a good release of pent up frustrations. and nothing more
Get the illegals out

I a non-conservative American wants all illegasl out of this country. If the group ANSWER is fighting for their rights then that is a reason the country is leaning to the right. The left non-conservative people are too frickin confused to fight the right. So we must attack the problems at the front. Illegal immigranst are a problem. They are a threat to National Security. Wake up and you too can see the light and fight the right.
you gotta be kidding me

"I a non-conservative American wants all illegasl out of this country"
Who the hell cares whether you are conservative or not. Your ideology is what defiines you as a political person. And from your comment, your ideology is baseless and shallow. "If the group ANSWER is fighting for their rights then that is a reason the country is leaning to the right. The left non-conservative people are too frickin confused to fight the right." Um, this is an issue of human decency, not about who is in power or who we should pander to. "So we must attack the problems at the front. Illegal immigranst are a problem. They are a threat to National Security. Wake up and you too can see the light and fight the right." So, what exactly makes people crossing predefined borders for better lives and working conditions a matter of national security? Are you an idiot? Your privledge to be born in a country --where you do not have to struggle tooth and nail to provide for your family-- is based upon using these same people as low wage servents to an injust economic system in order to provide you that privledge. As a person from a poor working class background, I would much rather fight side by side with these people then the likes of you. As for this Answer protest, its just another liberal democratic attempt to coopt other peoples struggles in order to make themselves look morally and politically right. What good do these groups actually bring about? If you wanna fight this, why dont you start by stopping the deportation of immigrants from the bay area. (I'll give you a hint, they fly them out of SFO) or perhaps set your sights on these new militias going around saying they wish to rid the country of "illegal imigrants" see: http://www.minutemanproject.com/ |
