Thursday February 24, 6:00 p.m.
NON-ORGANIC SUSTAINABILITY?
Farmer Joel Salatin's "Beyond Organic" talk and slide show focuses on Salatin's farm in Swoope, Virginia -- one of the most sustainable farms in the country even though it's not "organic." Author of "Holy Cows and Hog Heaven," Salatin says that his "chickens, pigs, cattle, turkeys and rabbits are raised in a complex dance of symbiosis." Presented by The Knight Program for Science and Environmental Journalism at UC Berkeley's Graduate School of Journalism. North Gate Library, (Hearst @ Euclid Aves.), Berkeley. Free. For information call 510/684-6922.
