Plea for New Trial Postponed

freeman HempEvolution.org

San Francisco, CA Feb 15, 2005-- Judge William Alsup postponed Stephanie Landa's petition for a new trial until April 26, 2005 so that depositions for the prosecution and defense can be taken.

Judge Alsup seemed to be in a more conciliatory mood since Landa's last court appearance and allowed lead defense attorney, Allison Margolin to speak without interruption as she explained her basis for a new trial, based on the incompetence of Landa's, Kikuchi and Gage's attorney[s] during the previous plea bargaining session.

During the proceedings, Judge Alsup dubbed prosecuting attorney George Beavens, "Mr Marijuana for the US Government", to which Beavens asked the remark be stricken from the court record.
