proposed CA legislation on petting zoo improvements
Action Alert on Petting Zoo legislation
The new legislation is starting already, and this year 'Animal
Action Network' has proposed a piece of animal legislation to a new
Assemblywoman, Noreen Evans (representing Sonoma, Napa counties). We
are hoping she will decide to take it up and support it. It will be
very helpful if some of her constituents can call or write to her
office and encourage her to do so.
Below is the basic information, and Ms. Evans' contact info. Please
call or write to her and ask her to consider authoring this humane
bill.
Proposed bill:
To require a full-retreat area for petting zoo animals in order to
protect the health and well-being of the animals, and protect the
public from undesirable behavior of animals. A full-retreat area
will lessen stress levels in animals, thus limiting aggressive
behavior, keeping animals in better health, decreasing the amount of
disease spread to other animals and humans.
Please ask Assemblywoman Noreen Evans to take up this bill:
(If you are a constituent of hers please let her know)
The Honorable Noreen Evans
CA State Assembly
Room 6025
Sacramento, CA 95814
Phone: 916-319-2007
Tell Assemblywoman Evans that you would like to see her author the
petting zoo retreat-area bill.
Questions? Call or email me: ckelly [at] napanet.net
Thanks, on behalf of all animals.
